The Flavor of Fall

It was good to hear from you! It's weird to me too that I'm not going back to school this fall! It's the first time since I started Kindergarten. But I'm glad I'm here :) School's great, but this is better for now! Last Monday I made snickerdoodles. It's been a while since I made them, but they still tasted great ;) They were gone by the next day since all 4 of us eat a lot and we shared with the Zone. Monday night we also had an FHE with The Family about temples and their importance and being sealed as an eternal family. They all said that was something they want and we talked about how baptism is that first step toward it. I think all we are waiting for now is time. It will happen!
Wednesday morning we got to go to the temple and do a session. We had to wake up at 5:00 because we had to leave at 6:00 for the 7:00 session. Haha confused by all those different times?? It was so early and I was tired, but I'm so glad that we got to got. It will be even better when the Gilbert temple opens because that is only a 10 minute drive compared to 40 minutes! President told us that they have already asked him if the sister missionaries can help with the Open House and he said yes! I'm so excited! Getting to help out will be so amazing.

Thursday we went out biking and got to a point where we had to cross Higley which is a four lane road. There was a break in the traffic so I asked Sister Chavarri if she was ready (and she said yes!) so I started going across, but she chickened out and slammed on her breaks and stayed behind! I couldn't stop at this point so I pedaled all the way across. She yelled that if she had crossed, she would have gotten clipped by a car. Sheesh...big baby :) (For the record, there was PLENTY of time for her to make it across too.) So there we were, separated by 4 lanes of traffic. We were getting some pretty funny looks from the cars that were turning. It was a pretty funny ordeal and she was finally able to find a break in the cars that she deemed acceptable to cross in.

Then came the long awaited day of Friday. Oh what a beautiful day it was. The baptism was scheduled to start at 7 so we got there at 6 to set up chairs, set out himnarios, fill the font, etc. etc. Our WML didn't get there until 6:15 so we had to hurry to get ready. Teresa and Francisco got there around 6:40 to get changed and take pictures, but our WML had left the jumpsuits in his wife's car so we had to wait for her to get there. She arrived and they got all changed. While we were waiting for Francisco, Teresa said "Aqui vengo mi Padre Celestial." It was so sweet :) We took pictures and then started the program at 10 after. Sister Chavarri talked about Baptism and then they were baptized. We got to go back there with them and it was so great. Francisco said he felt so clean and that he wanted to cry, but that he wasn't going to. Teresa was teary-eyed the whole night. I bore my testimony while they were changing and Sister Chavarri said that my Spanish was perfect! Thank you Spirit!!! We sang Mas Cerca, Dios, de Ti for the special musical number and it was great. Francisco got a Triple Combination from a member and talked about using it on his mission. Yay!!! The confirmations happened on Sunday and their blessings were beautiful. Sunday night we went to a New Member Fireside with them and Elder Clark was late so I had to translate for Teresa at the beginning! My first time! It was hard, but I managed to at least get the basic message to her!

Overall a fantastic week :) This is why I'm here!!!! It makes everything oh so worth it.

Con mi amor,
