It sounds like you had an
awesome trip! I've never been to the Midwest...well I guess sort of when
we went to Tennesse that one time and drove up to the other
states...but that doesn't really count. Know what that means?? It means
when I get home, we'll have to take another trip to visit Donna! 8
missionaries is a lot! We have 7 in our ward right now and everytime the
members see us all together they comment on how many of us there are
haha. EVERY time :) Speaking of breweries...I got offered my first beer
this week! Didn't think that would happen on my mission, but the guy we
talked to was just very friendly...and also I think he'd been
drinking...so he offered us one. We were like...uhh...thanks for being
willing, but we are missionaries and we don't drink. It was actually
pretty funny! You could tell his friend was just mentally shaking his
head at him haha.
This week was great! Started
off with us finding a new investigator. The people we were going to the
house to meet weren't there, but he was sitting outside and he pulled
out chairs for us and we taught for a while. He is a really sweet old
man. His wife died and that has been really hard on him, but it was the
perfect opportunity to teach him about the plan of salvation! We are
going back to his house tonight.
Tuesday
I got a package from Becca which was awesome (Thank you Becca! And Liz
too!). And then the package from you and Dad and Jenn came on Thursday
and it was just the best. I have the best family that there is :) True
story.
Our
other investigators, Olga and Fileberto...where to begin with them.
Well, Wednesday we had a very long lesson with them. I mean, VERY long,
too long, but good! And they said that they were going to read the Book
of Mormon. And they did...BUT they decided that it wasn't for them. They
called us on Saturday and said that they read and that it was pretty,
but that it wasn't in agreement with what the believed in. I think one
day it will be there time thought. She was still so sweet though and
told me that she hopes God will be with us always.
We
had interviews with President Nattress this week and they were great.
He is just such a spiritual giant and I always feel stregthened after
talking with him. As soon as I sat down for my lesson he said that he's
been leaning on me since the beginning of my mission and that he thinks
he's just going to keep on doing that. I told him OK! I'll do whatever
the Lord asks of me. He also said that within the next few months they
are going to open new Spanish areas! Yay! That's so exciting.
Francisco
Garcia (Teresa's husband) was baptized on Saturday! It was awesome. The
Spirit was already in the room, but when he stepped into the water, it
got even stronger! They can be sealed in one year!!!!! That's so amazing
:) And speaking of getting sealed in the TEMPLE.....THE GILBERT TEMPLE
OPEN HOUSE AND DEDICATION WERE ANNOUNCED!!!! Best news ever. The Open
House will be January 18 through February 15 and then the Dedication
will be on March 2. It's going to be awesome :)
Nothing
else really noteworthy. I just know that the Lord is in the details of
our lives. He gives us experiences to prepares us for the future. He
places people in our lives at the right time so that we can help them
and so that they can help us. I know it.
I hope all is well and that you have a great week! Until then...
Con amor,
Hermana Baria
