05.19.2014 - Another Year Closer to Looking Like Mom

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MOM!!! It sounds like you had a great time celebrating. We sang to you :) and by we, I mean the four of us that live in the Barn. So I hope you felt the love.:) That’s awesome, and really bad at the same time, that there is now a DSW so close! There is one about 10 minutes from where I live here, in the San Tan Mall, but I haven’t been there. I figure it is better that way. Safer.

I love what you said about how their investigators come from a connection with a member or a change in life circumstances. That is so true!!! We were talking about that, how if everyone just had a really good friend in the church who was always there for them and always followed-up when they weren’t at church, and not in an obligatory way, but in a genuine manner because they love and care…so many more people would be members and would stay members!!! But it all has to be done with love, Christ-like love. Then life circumstances changing: a death, moving, a new birth, difficulty dealing with teenagers, we are encourage to ask people those questions when we are looking for people to teach because those things prepare us! If you go to Miranda’s reception, tell her hi and congratulations for me! When you say Brianne…is that Thompson? She went to prom?? How old is she now? Kimmie got her call?!?!?! Yay for Arizona! We will be neighbors. :) When does she go to the MTC? That’s awesome Katie is going too! I feel soooo old.

So I guess first things first I should tell you that Natividad did not end up getting baptized on Saturday. Our lessons with him on Monday and Tuesday went really well and we reviewed all the interview questions and he did great, but then he didn’t show up to his interview on Wednesday. When we went on Thursday for our lesson with him, he said that because of the medical problems he is going through (something is wrong with his head and he has periods of time when he can’t remember anything), he wants to wait until everything is figured out. Not to mention his family situation…but we still are teaching him. We have a lesson tonight and he said that he still really wants to get baptized. I also found out that his brother lives in Denton!!! So he has been there too and knows it pretty well. Que pequeno es el mundo! :)

Along that same strain, we found out that the Andrades heard back from the lawyer and it will take 90 more days for everything to be worked out legally to allow them to be baptized so there baptism will be pushed back to July. Which is unfortunate, but they are still doing really well and they came to church and the fireside our mission had last night. We are having a lesson with them on the temple grounds tomorrow and I am excited for it. :) Is there a better place to feel the Spirit and teach the gospel? I mean, that’s where Jesus taught a lot of things, right??

Despite those unfortunate things, we have been able to see a lot of little miracles. People who we have met before who just happened to be in our path and who we talked to and are interested in learning more, a great Zone Conference, a new investigator, bearing our testimonies in young womens, Edith came to the Ward Activity on Saturday, and just so many more things that the Lord blesses us with. I love seeing His hand in my life every day. I love feeling the love that He has for me and for all of His children. It is just the most incredible work to be a part of! I hope you have the best week and remember that I love and pray for you always.

Con amor,

Hermana Baria
