08.18.2014 - Back to an Empty Nest

Yeah we went over to the Knudson’s house because we are teaching Lenox’s (the daughter) friend and we were working with her on that. They are a great family. I’m so proud of you for writing on Sunday afternoon. It was a very quality e-mail as well. I love Ruby Beach!! Was it beautiful?? I don’t think I’ve ever been to Spirit Lake or to the Ape Caves, but I’ve always wanted too.

That’s awesome that he was activation was started by the Kansas City temple open house. We have definitely seen miracles from the Gilbert open house too! Gotta love temples. :) Thanking you to Jenn for putting together the package and to you for writing a card to go in it. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY this week!!!! 39 years. So amazing. Thank you for your wonderful example. That’s awesome that Becca was called as a seminary teacher. She will do so great. Adelyn is starting kindergarten??? I still can’t believe that. We are all getting so old.

Monday and Tuesday were pretty uneventful so I’ll just skip to Wednesday. :) We went to the temple in the morning and it was wonderful. We got to see the new video which wasn’t my favorite, but it was still good. Then afterwards we went to Kneaders as a Zone for breakfast. I don’t know if you’ve ever been there…but they have this really delicious, huge French Toast that is all you can eat…we are in a zone of mostly Elders so it naturally turned into an eating competition. I can eat…that’s one of my talents. One I would probably be okay without! J But anyway I was just eating, holding my own, I had eaten 5 and was feeling fine…one of our zone leaders is pretty competitive and doesn’t like to lose (cough…prideful…cough :) and he told me if I ate one more than he had to eat one more too and he was begging me not to. So I’m probably a little prideful too, and I ordered another. :) I finished it before him, easily, and he complained the whole time. He admitted to defeat. I didn’t feel the need to eat another although I’m pretty sure I could have eaten one more. Only one of the Elders ate more…this really tall, really skinny elder. He ate seven. It was a lot of fun and the other Elders were cheering us on. Good times.

That afternoon we went on exchanges. Sister Linford left and I stayed. We had a miracle night. We had a great lesson with our newest investigator Maria and she said that when she knows these things are true, she will be baptized!!! That lesson started late, so we were late to our next appointment. Which President Nattress came too!!!! We also had the Primary President there with us. I was all nervous that he was there, but during the prayer the Spirit told me to knock it off and to just focus on Manny. So that’s what I did! The lesson was great and the Spirit was there. We invited him to be baptized on September 20th and he said yes!! They said they would come to church too, but they didn’t so we have to work on that. :)

Lots of musical things are going on right now in the mission so we had 2 musical rehearsals on Friday that we had to go to. One I played the piano for, and the other we both sang at. Then that night we had a good lesson with Concha and Rene at the temple. Miguelito was there and he was asking why they are not baptized yet and then he asked them why they don’t get baptized tomorrow. They said they can’t yet and he said, “Pero manana esta bueno.” It was so cute. :) He had a good point! But they are working towards baptism and they really want to do that.

Saturday night we had a MLC at President’s house from 8-9:30…weird time to have it, but it was good. It was prep for the meeting we are going to have this Saturday with Elder Robbins of the Presidency of the Seventy. I’m excited for it! I love being able to hear from General Authorities.

Life is good. Read 3 Nephi 17 this week. I read it this week during my Spanish study and it was just so beautiful. It actually made me cry! Haha just sitting there on my bed, reading aloud in Spanish and the tears just started rolling down! Couldn’t help it. :)

I hope you have a wonderful week! Love you!

Con amor,
Hermana Baria
