Sounds like you’ve
had a busy and fun week. :)
Those are always good. Poor little Ryder :/ that sounds like it hurt! Is his
hand doing better? Good ol’ rainy Washington! Definitely not rainy here. It’s
getting hotter and drier every day. It feels like summer now. The past couple
weeks have been warm, but there is a change in the air and you can tell that
summer is fast approaching. Your trip to the middle-of-nowhere waterfalls
sounds beautiful. And I agree with Dad, you’ll have to take me there when I get
home. :)
I laughed when you talked about the chocolate chips, but I am so proud of you.
I decided last night that I am going to go on a health-ier eating kick too. She
made tres leches with chile powder? I’ve never had it like that, but I love
tres leches. :)
As for school, I don’t register for classes until October so we are good for
now! Mikayla’s sister’s name is Samantha. I liked your idea of a trip to New
York to get fabric there. :)
Mother’s Day…I do get to call! Yay! I’m excited for it too. We are going to a
member’s house to Skype from and I will Skype you at 4:15 p.m. Dad says he is
sending a package so I told him some things that would be nice. When it comes
to words of wisdom, I always need more. :)
As soon as we get the conference edition of the ensign I will read the rest of
President Eyring’s talk. Thank you for the beautiful textile metaphor that you
gave me. :)
Remember how I used the two different types of thread for a scholarship essay
too? Good metaphors can come from fabric! Who knew??
Saturday was busy!
We had a lesson with one of our investigators Leidy and we ended up having to
drop her because she isn’t ready and straight up told us that she wasn’t going
to baptized…at least not until she was alone and older. She’s so sweet and
loves what we teach, but not ready. Planting seeds. Then we had a lesson with
Patricia and we invited her almost daughter-in-law to join us and she did. We
read 2 Nefi 31 with them and it went really well. The Spirit was strong and
Patricia accepted baptism for June 7th! (So please pray for her and
Natividad and the Andrade family who is on date for May 31.) Then we talked to
Saira and asked her if when she knows these things to be true she will be
baptized (so that all the wrong things in her life can be cleansed) and she was
so close to saying yes! We could just feel it. But she said I don’t know. Which
is understandable because we really haven’t taught her anything, but we do have
another lesson with her tomorrow. The Lord is so good! We had to drop an
investigator only to find another one that night!
Sunday was Stake
Conference and it went well. Edith and Patricia came. It was fun making sure
their translation headsets were working. :)
We got a new Stake Presidency. President Solomon had been in for 9 ½ years! I
can’t believe it. As we were waiting for the conference to start, our Obispo came
and sat next to us and asked us to do two special musical numbers and to speak
in church for mother’s day!!! Yay! That’s the first time he has asked any of us
to speak in the whole time we have been here. I’m excited. :)
Things are going
well. I was thinking about the past year and how amazing it has been. I was
trying to decide if it has been the best year of my life or just one of the
greatest. And it’s hard to say (because I’ve had some really good times in my
life), but I did come to the conclusion that this has been the most memorable,
life-changing, character-building, testimony-building, spiritual year that I
have had and I am so glad for it. I am even gladder that I have six more months
to enjoy and work hard in the service of the Lord. There is nowhere else I’d
rather be right now. (Don’t worry! I miss and love you and everyone, but I know
you are still there. :)
I can’t wait to see your beautiful face this Sunday and talk with all of the
family. Have a great week and stay safe! I love you!!!
Con amor,
Hermana Baria
